Want to see a quick tease from J.J. Abrams’ upcoming sequel, Star Trek Into the Darkness? And when I say “quick,” I mean ridiculously quick?

Abrams appeared on Conan O’Brien’s late-night talk show Thursday with a clip from Darkness, which he claims he’s still editing. Because he considers O’Brien to be a friend, Abrams said that he wanted to bring a clip. The audience cheered. Then Abrams joked that Paramount would only let him bring three frames of footage.

Three frames.

It’s about as quick as you’d assume. And while Abrams does a great job of selling the shot – which shows Spock (Zachary Quinto) in a volcano, wearing a strange suit – it’s a blink-and-you-missed-it snapshot of the upcoming Star Trek. Pretty funny.

See for yourself. Abrams has a good sense of humor, and he knows that the eyes of the world are going to be on his sequel after he and his team successfully rebooted Star Trek with a younger cast.

Into the Darkness will be in theaters on May 17, 2013. Here are three frames from the sequel, courtesy of Abrams. What do you think?
