Most of you probably already know how Superman's Hollywood past is a bit checkered, to say the least. A number of different Superman films were in development over the years – from one written by Kevin Smith and starring Nicolas Cage to another written by J.J. Abrams that was originally supposed to be directed by McG. It's that latter project, titled Superman: Flyboy, that is back in the news again.

Originally conceived as an origins story back in 2002, J.J. Abrams' script was going to reboot the entire Superman series with McG at the helm. However, McG dropped out to go direct a Charlie's Angels sequel after the project had been given a greenlight, and Abrams' script had leaked online, attracting one horrible lashing from the folks over at AICN. Between the negative feedback from fans, the director fallout, and a new, more exciting Batman vs. Superman pitch from Andrew Kevin Walker, Abrams' Flyboy was eventually shelved for good.
That Batman vs. Superman movie may happen one day (once Nolan's franchise is over and Superman successfully re-launches under Zack Snyder), but in the meantime a few concept images of the Abrams Superman have arrived online. Check them out and let us know what you think – does this look like a Superman you would've liked to see on the big screen?
