A comic book sequel, that is.
Surprisingly, one of the biggest stars of Guardians of the Galaxy is a character that was barely in the movie. Appearing briefly in the film and its postcredits sequence, Howard the Duck took the world of fandom by storm when it looked like Marvel was resurrecting the character, who was the titular subject of the 1986 cult classic, by making him a part of the new big-screen Marvel universe.
While we wait to see if Marvel gives Howard his own movie or makes him a part of someone else's adventures, the comic powerhouse has decided to begin with a new line of Howard the Duck comics, with the second issue telling the story of how the irritable duck wound up a part of the Collector's collection.
"Howard’s first big case has taken him across the universe and landed him in the clutches of the Collector! But he’s not alone as the very popular Rocket Raccoon is a prisoner as well! Have you ever seen a comic book sequel to a post-credits scene in a movie? Well, you will now!”
Check out the cover of the comic below, featuring Howard sandwiched between members of the Guardians of the Galaxy during an amusing duck-faced selfie.
What do you think? Does Howard the Duck deserve another shot at his own movie?
