Gravity is set to touch down in theaters again.

Fans who missed out on the first theatrical run (or those who just want to go back again) can see the movie in theaters beginning January 17. Yes, that's one day after the Oscar nominations are announced.

The exact number of theaters for the rerelease will be announced next week and you can get tickets here. The film is currently in limited release in some major markets.

Gravity has banked nearly $700 million worldwide since its October release.

The film is expected to be an awards contender in the directing, best actress (Sandra Bullock) and best picture fields of all the major upcoming awards events.

Another front-runner getting a rerelease will be Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave. Fox Searchlight announced last month that the film would be returning to theaters on January 17 as well. The harrowing slavery drama is also winding down its current limited release run and tickets can be purchased here.

With this year providing a number of close races in marquee categories, studios are going all out to generate buzz for their contending films. Fruitvale Station recently completed a limited rerelease run and Blue Jasmine is currently in the midst of a super-limited rerelease. It certainly wouldn't hurt to have other contenders like Captain Phillips, All Is Lost and The Butler try for a final awards push.

Are you planning to see Gravity or 12 Years a Slave in theaters? What other Oscar contenders would you like to see rereleased?
