UPDATE: Screencrush did some digging and found the reports this morning about Die Hard 6 (at least for now) were indeed just a rumor.
Rumors of a sixth Die Hard have been in the works even before that domestic dud known as A Good Day to Die Hard hit theaters a couple months ago. Apparently John McClane still wants to be on vacation because the latest word is the sixth movie, temporarily titled Die Hardest, will be set in Tokyo.
Total Film chat with writer Ben Trebilcook who said the story is only in the treatment stage at the moment, but will begin in New York City and then take the action to Tokyo. No word if Jai Courtney, who played John's son will return or if Willis will sign off on this idea.
"It is extremely faithful to the franchise and characters and is a natural progression. It's also a very plausible storyline," Trebilcook said. He adds that, "I feel it could be the Rocky Balboa of the Die Hard franchise." Yeeeah.
Fox is eager to capitalize on a strong international market which brought in nearly $250 million for A Good Day to Die Hard. The film will arrive on home video on June 4.
Would you like to see McClane come back to theaters and try to redeem himself in a sixth movie or should this franchise die (hard) already?
