Since it’s the summer movie season and all, we figured it might be fun to add a new fanboy-related feature to the Freshly Popped movie blog here on Fandango – and so welcome to Fanboy Fix! It’s pretty self-explanatory, but basically I’ll drop by a couple times each week to give you fanboys (and girls) out there a nice helping of the latest news, buzz, rumors, images and much more. Sound cool? Great, let’s go …

Downey Jr. Suits Up for 'Iron Man' Sequel

The first photo of Robert Downey Jr. in costume as Iron Man in Iron Man 2 has arrived online via People.com, and it would appear to be a shot of the actor hanging out in between scenes as his helmet is off and he’s chill-axing with a nifty pair of shades on.

Director Jon Favreau has invaded Twitter lately with tons of updates from the set. Yesterday he mentioned that they were shooting the first scene with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Tony Stark, while earlier this week both Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke were filming scenes. Still no images of those two, who both play villains, but one imagines those should arrive online real soon.

First 'Terminator Salvation' Review Hits

The first fan review of Terminator Salvation appeared on AICN today following an apparent early screening, and the general consensus seems positive. Keep in mind the review does carry some spoilers, so I’ll give you a non-spoilerish taste right here with some choice quotes:

-- "Action is the keyword for this movie, which of course most people who goes to see this franchise will be expecting."
-- "There’s also cameos in voice by Linda Hamilton and appearance by Schwarzenegger. And for my tastes certainly the latter is a cool moment."
-- "All in all I came out of the cinema with the belief that we may still have great stories from the Terminator universe, and that we at least have a fine piece of action movie, with the potential for a good story arc."

Check out the rest of the review over on AICN. What are you looking forward to most with Terminator Salvation (in theaters May 21)?

'Green Lantern' Pushed Back Six Months

With no one confirmed to play Green Lantern and production apparently set to begin later this summer, Warner Bros. has decided to give this sucker a bit more space by pushing the release date back from December 2010 to June 17, 2011. That means the summer of 2011 will officially belong to superheroes, with Spider-Man 4, Thor, Green Lantern and Captain America all hitting theaters during a three-month span. That’s nuts!

Last we heard on the Green Lantern front, Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) was the frontrunner for the role, however nothing is confirmed and no one has signed on the dotted line.

Which Summer 2011 film are you looking forward to most: Spidey 4, Thor, Captain America or Green Lantern?
