For years Richard Linklater, the director of Boyhood and Before Midnight, has talked about wanting to make a sequel to one of his most beloved movies, 1993's Dazed and Confused. He wasn't talking about making a literal sequel with the same characters, though. Linklater instead wanted to make a spiritual sequel that would do for the '80s what Dazed and Confused did for the '70s.
Everybody Wants Some!! is that movie. It's a comedy about how the players, new and old, on a college baseball team spend their time leading up to the first day of class. That's it. There's no complicated plot, no dramatic storytelling to unravel. It's what Linklater calls a hangout movie. Watching Everybody Wants Some!! feels like hopping into a time machine back to 1980 and just seeing what life was like for a few simple, incredibly likable dudes.
And now you can hop into that time machine by watching Everybody Wants Some!! on FandangoNOW. In the meantime, here's an exclusive featurette with cast members Tyler Hoechlin, Ryan Guzman, Quinton Johnson and Wyatt Russell talking about making their future comedy classic.
