After being evicted from his home and forced to move his mother and son into a seedy motel, Dennis Nash (Andrew Garfield), an honest construction worker, goes to work for Rick Carver (Michael Shannon), the ruthless businessman who evicted his family from their home. Nash soon finds himself making lots of money, but at what cost?
