Not too long ago there was a rumor going around that Chris Pine was up for the role of Hal Jordan, aka the Green Lantern, in the new DC Comics cinematic universe. Hopefully you didn't get too attached to that idea, though, as it seems like there's no way that will happen considering Warner Bros. has reportedly entered negotiations with the Star Trek actor for the male lead in Wonder Woman, currently set to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.

According to Variety, Pine is being offered the role of Wonder Woman's love interest, Steve Trevor. In the comics Trevor is an American soldier whose plane crashes on Wonder Woman's island during World War II, but we actually don't know yet if the movie version is going to be a WWII period piece or not.

All we do know for sure is that Patty Jenkins is directing, Gal Gadot (seen above as Wonder Woman) is starring, and Chris Pine will be her damsel in distress, assuming all the paperwork checks out at least. And that's actually some cool casting considering Pine has basically played the leading hero ever since 2009's Star Trek, so it'll be a welcome change of pace to see him being the one rescued this time around.
