The 2021 fall movie season is officially here, and we couldn't be more excited to dive into a new season of big blockbusters and notable awards contenders. To kick off fall in a proper way, Fandango is pleased to share over 20 brand new images from many of this season's biggest movies. Malignant (in theaters September 10 - find tickets)

James Wan, the original director and co-creator of the ‘Saw,’ ‘Insidious’ and ‘The Conjuring Universe’ franchises makes his return to horror filmmaking for one of the most anticipated genre movies of the year. Annabelle Wallis (‘Annabelle’) stars in his latest scary effort as a woman suffering from visions of terrifyingly gruesome murders, which turn out to be real. But does she have more than just a psychic connection to the killings? 

 

The Card Counter (in theaters September 10 - find tickets)

From executive producer Martin Scorsese comes the latest from Paul Schrader, writer of the Scorsese classics ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘Raging Bull’ and director of ‘First Reformed.’ Oscar Isaac stars in the revenge drama as a former military interrogator and ex-convict who now spends his days gambling, specializing in the game of blackjack. Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan and four-time Oscar-nominee Willem Dafoe round out the main cast.

 

Queenpins (in theaters September 10 - find tickets

Based on a true story, the comedy stars Kristen Bell (‘Bad Moms’) and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (‘Cruella’) as struggling housewives who wind up making millions of dollars in a counterfeit coupon scheme. Paul Walter Hauser (also ‘Cruella’) and Vince Vaughn (‘Wedding Crashers’) round out the cast as the unlikely authorities tasked with investigating the crime and ultimately taking the scammers down. Be wary of fake discount tickets to this one!   

 

Blue Bayou (in theaters September 17 - find tickets)

Filmmaker Justin Chon (‘Gook’) wrote, directed and stars in the heartbreaking drama about a Korean-American man in Louisiana facing deportation despite having been adopted and brought to the US, where he has lived since the age of three. Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander (‘The Danish Girl,’ ‘Tomb Raider’) co-stars as the man’s wife who, along with their daughter, fight by his side but fear losing him forever.

 

The Eyes of Tammy Faye (in theaters September 17 - find tickets)

Oscar-nominees Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield transform themselves to portray the notoriously iconic televangelist couple Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker, who became household names in the 1970s and 1980s through their TV appearances, scandals and crimes. The biopic, which is directed by Michael Showalter (‘The Big Sick’) and also stars Vincent D’Onofrio as Jerry Falwell, is adapted from the 2000 documentary feature of the same name. 

 

Cry Macho (in theaters September 17 - find tickets)

The latest from 91-year-old actor and director Clint Eastwood is based on the 1975 novel of the same name. The drama also stars the Western icon as a former rodeo cowboy tasked by his old boss of escorting a young man (Eduardo Minett) from Mexico to his father (Dwight Yoakam) in America. Eastwood reunited with his Gran Torino and The Mule screenwriter Nick Schenk for the adaptation.  

 

Dear Evan Hansen (in theaters September 24 - find tickets)

Based on the smash Broadway hit, this coming-of-age musical stars Ben Platt, who reprises his Tony Award-lauded role from the stage version as the titular teenager. The plot follows Evan’s dishonest claim to having been the best friend of a classmate who killed himself. The adaptation is directed by Stephen Chbosky (‘Wonder’) and features songs by the Oscar-winning duo behind the music of ‘La La Land.’

 

Venom: Let There Be Carnage (in theaters October 1 - find tickets)

In this sequel to the hit 2018 Marvel Comics adaptation ‘Venom,’ Tom Hardy returns as journalist Eddie Brock, who is bonded to a sentient alien parasite, while Michelle Williams is also back as his ex-fiancee. Woody Harrelson co-stars as serial killer Cletus Kasady, who becomes host to another parasite that turns him into the villain Carnage, with Naomie Harris joining as his love interest. For those counting, that’s four Oscar nominees!

 

The Many Saints of Newark (in theaters October 1 - find tickets)

More than 14 years after ‘The Sopranos’ went off the air, Tony Soprano is back. But younger and now played by Michael Gandolfini, son of the late James Gandolfini, who originated the role on the HBO series. The prequel film is set in the 1960s and 1970s as Tony is drawn into the gangster life. Alessandro Nivola, Ray Liotta and Academy Award nominees Leslie Odom Jr. and Vera Farmiga co-star.

 

The Addams Family 2 (in theaters October 1 - find tickets)

Cue the famous theme song and get your snapping fingers ready because the creepy, kooky, spooky and ooky Addams clan is back for a sequel to the hit 2019 animated feature based on Charles Addams’ classic cartoons. Starring the voices of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Snoop Dogg and Bette Midler, the movie follows Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Grandmama and the rest for a family road trip across America. 

 

Halloween Kills (in theaters October 15 - find tickets)

Michael Myers is still undefeated, despite every effort made by the three generations of Strode/Nelson women (Jamie Lee Curtis,  Judy Greer and Andi Matichak) at the end of the 2018 ‘Halloween.’ But they’re going strong, as well, and are back to try again in the latest sequel. And joining them are some old franchise players, including Kyle Richards and Nancy Stephens reprising their respective roles from the 1978 original.

 

The Last Duel (in theaters October 15 - find tickets) 

From director Ridley Scott (‘Gladiator’) comes a dramatic telling of the last legally sanctioned duel in France, set in the 14th century. Matt Damon and Adam Driver star as rivals who must fight to the death over accusations made by the former’s wife (‘Free Guy’ star Jodie Comer). Damon also co-wrote the screenplay with Nicole Holofcener (‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’) and co-star Ben Affleck.

 

Ron's Gone Wrong (in theaters October 22 - find tickets)

The story of the friendship that grows between Barney, an ordinary, if awkward, school boy, and Ron, his smart, if frequently malfunctioning, personal device that just happens to walk, talk and get into mischief all on its own.

 

The French Dispatch (in theaters October 29 - find tickets)

Wes Anderson and a fabulous company of wonderful actors imagine life in the early 20th century at a provincial French magazine. Timothee Chalemet, Jeffrey Wright, Elisabeth Moss, Saoirse Ronan, Tilda Swinton and Frances McDormand lead the cast.

 

Last Night in Soho (in theaters October 29 - find tickets)

Director Edgar Wright turns to the dark side of time travel in a dazzling horror mystery. Anya Taylor-Joy stars as an aspiring fashion designer whose dreams of a glamorous life begin to splinter and crack. Thomasin McKenzie, Diana Rigg, Matt Smith and Terence Stamp also star.

 

Antlers (in theaters October 29 - find tickets)

Prepare for your nerves to be shredded in an unsettling horror thriller about a school teacher (Keri Russell) and her sheriff brother (Jesse Plemons) who are unwillingly drawn into the dark secrets of a star student (Jeremy T. Thomas), leading them all into terrifying encounters with a mysterious creature.

 

Eternals (in theaters November 5 - find tickets)

Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie and Kit Harrington headline a Marvel action-adventure extravaganza, directed by Academy Award winner Chloe Zhao. The titular race of immortal beings, which has resided on Earth for centuries in secret, finally emerges to confront the greatest challenge the world has ever faced.

 

Belfast (in theaters November 5 - find tickets)

In the rough and tumble late 1960s, a young boy and his quite ordinary family learn about the joys and troubles of life in Northern Ireland. Caitriona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Ciaran Hinds and Judi Dench star in a gripping drama, written and directed by Kenneth Branagh.

 

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (in theaters November 19 - find tickets)

A single mother (Carrie Coon) and her two children (Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace) start a new life in a small town, where they discover their family connection to the original team of Ghostbusters and uncover a mysterious legacy that they are bound to explore. 

 

Encanto (in theaters November 24 - find tickets)

Young Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz) loves her beloved family very much, yet she lacks the magical powers that have been bestowed upon everyone else in town by their wondrous surroundings in remote Colombia. When the magic begins to go away, however, she might be her family's final hope.

 

King Richard (in theaters November 24 - find tickets)

Will Smith stars as the unquestioned head of his family, who coached his daughters Venus and Serena Williams to become unstoppable forces in the world of tennis. Jon Bernthal also stars. 

 

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (in theaters November 24 - find tickets)

Every popular action-horror series needs an origin story. Kaya Scodelario, Robbie Amell, Hannah John-Kamen and Neil McDonough star in a thriller that explores the mysterious origins of Spencer Mansion and Raccoon City. Johannes Roberts ('47 Meters Down') wrote and directed.
