Fabulous weather here on the east coast has me feelin’ those summer vibes today, even though we’re still a little over a month away from the official start of the summer movie season. Looking over the 2010 summer movies, I feel like this will be somewhat of a quiet year – what with Marvel and DC still piecing together the big guns for premieres in 2011 and 2012. Still, though, even in a quiet year, we have some very big movies arriving in theaters between now and September – but which ones are you looking forward to most?
As I did a couple of weeks ago, I’m turning our usual The Five into Your Five, which turns the microphone over to you instead of forcing you to read me babbling on for 1300 words about how awesome Robert Downey Jr. is (we’ll save that for next time). Of course, I can’t just leave you without giving you a taste of what this summer has to offer, so here are what I think will be the top ten biggest films. After you check them out and agree or disagree, tell us what your five most anticipated summer movies are…and feel free to rank them in order of preference if you want to get real geeky on me.
The Top Ten Biggest Summer Movies of 2010 (According to Me)…
Twilight, Eclipse, Prince of Persia, Iron Man 2, Predators, The Last Airbender, Toy Story 3, Inception, Shrek Forever After, Sex and the City 2, Robin Hood
Ugh...twilight...the ABSOLUTE WORST films ever made. I would rather watch a continuous loop of The Adventures of Pluto Nash, Marie Anntoinett, and You've Got Mail before i'll watch such a ****** movie. And don't be a Smartass and say :Oh, you don't have to see it if you don't want to. I have Three Tweenage sisters who cant stop talking about this stupid crap.
Dark ******* Knight - those in the 10 ten don't look that good like last year or the year DK was out. Inception is gonna blow people away, it is the ONLY original screenplay
When is the Maximum Ridemovie coming out?
I heard that THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO is coming. Read it in the NEW YORK TIMES
1.) Iron Man 2
2.) Robin Hood
3.) Clash of the Titans
4.) Karate Kid
These are what I'm gonna be watching everyday when im on summer break! I also believe that this is going to be (in relative order) what is going to be in the box office and also is going to be voted in popularity. CAN'T WAIT!!!!
When is District 9 going to make a part 2 ??? That poor guy is stuck in the dump as a prawn eating dog food!!!
Eclipse is my number 1, toy story 3 is my number 2, and iran man is my number 3. Thats all I care to watch this summer
I'm gonna see Iraq Man....hehehe
If by "most anticipated," you mean "most likely to make a boatload of money," then I agree with the list as presented above. There are some potentially excellent movies coming which will likely get overlooked; though I personally am anticipating them; such as I Love You Phillip Morris, Salt, The Kids are Alright, et al. I was surprised how entertained I was by Iron Man, so I'll have the sequel on my To Watch list, as well as Inception, Robin Hood and Despicable Me. That being said, anyone with Eclipse on their list should kindly step in front of a speeding bus full of napalm. Not only were the books poorly written, but they also perpetuate the ideal that "he might hurt/kill me but it's ok because I LOVE him" is an acceptable relationship.
The simple fact that you said the books were "poorly writen" proves that you haven't read them. They may not be your cup of tea but that doesn't mean they are bad, which just goes to show your ignorance. Also if you are looking to fiction literature or hollywood for examples of a "healthy relationship" then you are looking in the wrong place. So if you would kindly step in front of the bus and save us all from your stupidity you would be doing humanity a huge favor.
When he suggested the "bus" thing, I figured he'ed be driving... Then we'ed both be out of our misery.
I read the first two, but couldn't bring myself to slog through the drivel of a third. I maintain that they are poorly written, especially the first; though there is a slight increase in the complexity of the writing style by the middle of the second.
No, it isn't my cup of tea to see such a relationship drooled over by impressionable teenagers and tweens, and that is my main point of contention with the books (as well as the film). I'm not looking to fiction or film for examples of a healthy relationship, but you have to admit that it does set a standard for all those kids out there gobbling it up, one that parents should consider exposing their children to. Dangerous relationships aren't "sexy," and shouldn't be portrayed that way.
did you know that The last Airbender was a TV show on nickelodeon called avatar? but because of title rights or whatever the new movie has to be called "the last airbender". originally it was Avatar: the last air bender. but now...
essentually, im bothered. the first part of harry potter 7 is comming out November 2010. and the second part is comming out july 2011. I know that its all about the money in showbiz, but come on. why torture your fans? its like, really?
When is the new Harry Potter coming out?
part 1 - nov. 2010 part 2 - july 2011
I am going with 1. Iron Man 2 2. Toy Story 3 3. Robin Hood 4. Prince of Persia 5. The A-Team. There are a lot of lame films coming out this summer, Sex and the City, Step Up 3-D, Twilight Eclipse, the Karate Kid. Plus I don't even like the cast of Predators, either.
Even though I'm not a TOTAL twihard, I am wanting to see Eclipse.
Last Air Bender
Iron Man 2
Prince of Persia
And whether it's considered a "summer" movie or not, I want to see how the Nightmare on Elm Street remake turns out.
Did someone really say they are looking forward to STEP UP 3-D. That is the single worst thing I could spend my time on this summer. I bet the person who likes that also has sexual relations with their dog. While masturbating to Channing Tatum break dancing.
Mine according to my girls 11 & 6 1. Iron Man 2 2.Nanny McPhee 2 2. A-Team 3.Prince of Persia 4.The Last Airbender and the last one is just for me 5. Sex and the City 2. Can't Wait. The A-Team was my fav growing up I hope they don't mess it up.
a second nanny mcphee?
My Top 5 Summer Movies: Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Sex and the City 2, The Karate Kid, Killers and Step Up 3-D
I am looking forward to Iron Man 2 the most of all the films on your list. I would add Scott Pilgrim vs the World.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
