Paramount Will Make 'Paranormal Activity 4,' Sony Moves Forward with 'Dragon Tattoo' Sequel

Though it's been an overall critical success and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo isn't exactly shattering the box office. Granted, it is a very adult-oriented R-rated murder mystery filled with graphic content.

While it will eventually make back the $90 million it took to make it, the film's lackluster performance ($72 million worldwide) let some wondering if Sony would move forward with adapting the next Girl movie, The Girl Who Played With Fire.

A Sony rep informed Entertainment Weekly that The Girl Who Played with Fire remains on target for a late 2013 release. Dragon Tattoo leads Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig are already signed on to reprise their roles as Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist.

Dragon Tattoo writer Steve Zaillian is in the early stage of scripting Fire, which Fincher has the option to direct. Though the Oscar-nominated director has not committed to the project, he said that if he were to sign on, he would prefer to shoot both Fire and the third book, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, back-to-back for both practical and artistic purposes.

Meanwhile, Paramount's plan to make a fourth Paranormal Activity movie comes as less of a surprise. Though no plot has been revealed, the Paranormal franchise has been Paramount's annual sure thing, grossing almost $300 million domestically and $573 million worldwide. The budget for the trilogy has been a combined $8 million.

Paranormal Activity 3 took the prequel route, so there's no telling where this fourth movie would go. What should the plot for Paranormal Activity 4 be?

IF they MUST make a fourth Paranormal Activity, then I think they should continue where the second left off because the daughter is still alive. ALSO, dont go overboard with the scares like how the third one was. Too much stuff floating around and people levitating. Keep it faithful to the first where even the most distant noises heard down the hall can send chills down your spine.

I agree, the third was still kind of a fun scare in my opinion, but I prefer the first a lot more, much scarier

The first one was scary as Hell if you watched it in a Theater with the lights off and the sound boosting. If you watch these films at home with lights on, won't be that scary. These are MEANT TO BE IN THE DARK FILMS. But yeah the 2nd one sort of was boring to me and the third one did have some shocking moments that I didn't see coming. But, they should go back to the Katie/Hunter scene so we can find out what exactly happened to Katie when she took Hunter. Stop going backwards please and explain the first 2 more.

Of course they are going ahead with Dragon Tattoo sequel, Dragon Tattoo was an amazing and mesmerizing Americanized version of the original and it did the book justice. The long wait for the puzzle to piece together was perfect, the cinematography and choice of actors/actresses was spot on perfect and each perfected their roles to the last detail. I'm thinking Academy Award for this one because it was what Hollywood has been missing for years....artistic masterpiece. Unfortunately most just saw the movie without reading the book and then complained it was only about rape, animal abuse and masichistic torture and can't see the big picture to the story which is why EVERYBODY NEEDS TO READ THE BOOKS. P.A. 4 of course!!!
