Fandango’s Hot 2011 List: Most Anticipated Movies, Next Big Star and Most Mismatched Couple

By: Erik Davis on December 29, 2010 at 12:49PM Comments (70)

As we near the hotly-anticipated start of 2011, we here at Fandango decided to put out a call to filmgoers to see what (and who) they were most looking forward to in the New Year. We’ve already shared with you the results of the Sexiest Men and Women in 2011 Movies (voted on by over 1,000 filmgoers right here at Fandango), and now we’re going to shake things up by revealing the results of some of our most talked-about polls: The Most Anticipated Blockbuster of 2011, The Next Big American Movie Star in 2011 and Most Mismatched Movie Couple in 2011.

Let’s begin with the blockbusters, where both Harry Potter and The Twilight Saga were put head to head, revealing that both men and women are anticipating Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 the most out of all other movies arriving in theaters in 2011. You won’t see Breaking Dawn, Part 1 anyway near the men’s list (though it is number two on the women’s list), and, surprisingly, The Hangover 2 beat out other blockbusters like Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on both lists. Perhaps the biggest surprise, however, is that neither Marvel movie (Thor or Captain America: The First Avenger) cracked the top five for men or women. Check out the full results below …
THE MOST ANTICIPATED BLOCKBUSTER OF 2011: MEN’S PICKS:

THE MOST ANTICIPATED BLOCKBUSTER OF 2011: WOMEN’S PICKS:

4.            PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES 14%
5.            TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON 5%

Next up we have the most mismatched movie couple of 2011, a title that, for men, belongs to Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz in The Green Hornet, and for women rests solely with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in Just Go With It. Other mismatched couples on the list include Kevin James and Winona Ryder (The Dilemma), Kevin James and Rosario Dawson (Zookeeper) and Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Connelly (The Dilemma). Geez, poor Kevin James – is a guy who’s large and in charge not allowed to date a pretty lady? Check out the full results below …

Other notable additions: Justin Bieber (Never Say Never) made both lists (number four for men and two for women), while Jay Chou also scored a spot with both sexes. Sorry Mikephilly but that Beiber kid's popularity makes my skin crawl! I mean he is the current princess, I mean prince of processed crap! What makes me even more mythed is that adult women think he is worth acknowledging along with so many other producers of uninspired bubblegum. God knows how many actually talented kids his age never get record contracts who can actually play instruments classically! So grow up and start hating....or this **** will overshadow all the actual good music out there! There will be no money to produce anything of quality anymore if the audience for alternative music dwindles down to nothing! Trust me the corporations will make it so!

Sucker Punch, hello? Oh yeah, wait its because women don't support their fellow sisters if they kick *** or pick up a gun in a movie unless its Angelina. Plus guys are too sexist to admit movies like that look cool. Transformers is S**t! We all know it, stop going to see those movies, their plotless and SUCK!!! Oh which brings me to those horrible excuse for list. Biggest star Justin Beiber? Pick somebody else who can act and actually has musical talent like Christina!!! A**holes! Cant wait til that little girl/boy goes away or meets with an unfortunate accident! I'm for Blake and Emma Stone being on that list. How about Jeremy Renner, Joe Gordon Levitt, Michelle Williams, Abbie Cornish, Greta Gerwig. Real actors who should be stars!

ouch...I for one am very excited for sucker punch. it looks awesome. any guy i show the trailer to gets pretty excited too. not sure if that's a good argument against your sexist rant though since theyre probably excited because girls kicking *** in skirts is damn hot. transformers isn't supposed to be a crazy conceptual plot, though the second one disappointed me, they serve their purpose and i think they are awesome. finally, j beiber i don't think is acting in his movie, i think it's more about his life so he is himself. even though someone doesn't act, it doesn't mean theyre not a star. i think he is overrated, but i'm not hating on the kid. i got nothing against him, but i have no desire to see his movie.

ok i understand the top 4 of movie to see in 2011 for men but what i dont get is why Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon is in there when its Captain America (at least) should be #5. simply put Transformers (more than likely) is going to be a big hit @ the b.o. but storywise its not going to make any sense at all no matter what Bay says to try to atone for the disaster that Revenge of The Fallen was..Bay you may continue to believe and blame it on the writer strike but if you couldnt meet the deadline or whatever you should have just left or at least give the studio an ultimatum so as not to rush the movie and at least do it right..but beggards cant be choosers. i know i wont believe your petty excuse of "because of the writers strike" crap

Well, I think everybody knows that Harry Potter is the #1 anticpated movie, but in a way, I hate to see it happen, because it has to be the end of the series. What will I do with myself, with no HP books or movies to look forward to?

Cannot wait for Harry Potter part 2 but my God, I practically refuse to wait any longer for Breaking Dawn Part 1 and then another year for Part 2. That is just ridiculous! I loath the person who decided to take that long between movie releases. URGGGGGGG

Personally, I am sick and tired of Hollywood perpetuating the myth that the regular joes and fat men of the earth can always score a supermodel. Enough! Seriously, if they had Kathy Bates dating someone like Ryan Reynolds people would be all up in arms unless it was some movie based on plastic surgery and weight loss and at the end Kathy Bates becomes a new, skinny hot version of herself played by Leighton Meester or something. Its bad enough that women think they all need to look like the supermodels of the world to have enough confidance to get a guy but to have their average joe constantly looking over his shoulder for something better (as men seem programmed to do) because Hollywood says it is possible has just gotten ridiculous

Cowboys and aliens will be a sleeper.. Pirates is so, so with me, by the looks of the preview. I think it will be better than the last two because orlando shroom and kira ugly is out the picture.. get to to Jack man!! I'm looking forward to Ceder creek (i think thats the title) with john c Riely. Dont care for harry plopper. I like the first 5 or 6.. This last one sucked for me.. They're all emotional now, and depressed and stuff. To much like real life for me. I go to the movies to get away from life.. i know its a book series and all, i just didnt feel it. Twilight saga.. eh.. i think it would have been more interesting if the vampire turned out to be bisexual and had a think for Jacob, then bella would be even more confused

Margin Call. Watch for it at Sundance 2011. A-1 cast includes Irons, Spacey, D Moore, Quintos, S Baker, Badgely, Tucci, Bettany. Compelling yet plausible story of a top ranked Wall Street firm as it almost goes down. Superb writing and direction. I know Wall Street and they have nailed it.
