Buried (2010)

With the release of Devil, Buried and 127 Hours, we got to thinking about all of the other movies about people being trapped in tight situations or confined spaces.

Buried stars Ryan Reynolds (pictured) as a U.S. contractor in Iraq who gets kidnapped and left for dead inside a coffin with nothing but a lighter and a dying cell phone. "Can you hear me now?!"

Devil (2010)

Being stuck in an elevator is everyone's worst nightmare -- but what if one of the five people you're trapped with might be the devil incarnate? Going...down?

127 Hours (2010)

Based on the true story of Aron Ralston, a mountain climber who gets trapped in a deep canyon in Moab, Utah when a boulder crashes down and pins his arm for five days. You won't believe what he has to do to get out.

Frozen (2010)

A ski trip is supposed to be fun, right? Not for these three skiers who become stranded on a chairlift and have to decide what to do about it before they freeze to death.

Moon (2009)

Being an astronaut up in space can be very quiet and lonely especially if you're there all alone on a three-year mission like Sam Rockwell's character is in this mystery/drama directed by David Bowie's son, Duncan Jones.

Pandorum (2009)

Another scary space movie is this 2009 entry where a pair of crew members aboard a spaceship wake up with no knowledge of their mission or their identities. But they soon realize that they are not alone.

Quarantine (2008)

A TV journalist and her cameraman become trapped in an apartment building that has been quarantined by the CDC after the residents become infected with a mysterious virus that turns people into vicious killers.

The Strangers (2008)

A nice, quiet vacation turns deadly for a young couple when three unknown assailants show up in the middle of the night and start to terrorize them and it becomes a fight for survival.

Funny Games (2007)

Nothing's funny when two psychopathic young men take a family hostage in their vacation retreat and mentally and physically torture them -- just for kicks.

Vacancy (2007)

A young married couple check into an isolated motel and become trapped in the room where cameras are hidden to film them becoming victims of a snuff film.

1408 (2007)

You can check in but you can't check out! Another hotel room becomes a trap for John Cusack's character who is trying to debunk the mysterious curse behind room 1408 in this horror/thriller based on a Stephen King story.

P2 (2007)

Ever get locked in a parking garage late at night? That's what happens to a young businesswoman when she works late on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, the only one around to help her is a creepy security guard who has other intentions besides keeping her safe.

Captivity (2007)

Elisha Cuthbert stars as a top fashion model who gets kidnapped and tortured in a basement maze of terror with what seems like no way out. Or is there?

Sunshine (2007)

In the future, a team of eight astronauts are sent to try to re-ignite the dying sun on a very dangerous mission into space in this sci-fi/horror thriller directed by Danny Boyle.

Poseidon (2006)

A remake of the 1972 disaster film The Posiedon Adventure finds a surviving group of passengers aboard a flipped-over cruise ship trying to make their way to safety.

Red Eye (2005)

Stuck on an airplane on an overnight flight becomes very dangerous for a young woman when she is kidnapped by a psychopath and threatened to do what he says or her father will be killed by a hit man.

The Descent (2005)

A group of six girlfriends get trapped while caving and are pursued by bloodthirsty creatures underground. Grab your flashlight and hard hat!

Saw (2004)

The Jigsaw Killer's first appearance in the ultra-successful horror franchise was in this low-budget indie about two characters stuck inside one room who must decide their own fates, determining whether they will live or die.

Cellular (2004)

Kim Basinger plays a woman who is kidnapped and locked in a room with a smashed telephone that dials up a random number when she fiddles around with it. She must convince the man on the other end of the phone that she's really kidnapped and that her family is in danger also.

Open Water (2003)

The ocean is a vast place, but you'd feel trapped too if you were left out in the middle of it in shark-infested waters! That's what happens to a couple of scuba divers after their tour boat leaves them stranded in this thriller based on a true story. And no, they were never found....

Phone Booth (2002)

Colin Farrell stars as a man pinned inside a phone booth by a man with a sniper rifle. If he leaves the phone booth or hangs up, he will be shot.

Panic Room (2002)

Jodie Foster stars with a young Kristen Stewart as a mother/daughter team who become imprisoned in the panic room of their own home after three burglars break in.

Cabin Fever (2002)

When five college friends rent a cabin in the woods they have no idea what's in store for them when a contagious flesh-eating disease stars to infect the group. Camping, anyone?!

Solaris (2002)

George Clooney stars in this remake of a 1972 Russian sci-fi movie of the same name about a psychologist sent to a mysterious space station to investigate strange phenomena happening aboard it.

Cube (1997)

Six total strangers awaken one day to find themselves trapped in a cubical maze with thousands of possible rooms. Each has a skill that becomes clear when they must band together to get out.

Event Horizon (1997)

Another sci-fi thriller about a mysterious spaceship that has reappeared after being lost for seven years and brought back something with it that is an unspeakable evil.

Misery (1990)

Kathy Bates won the Best Actress Oscar for her role as an obsessed fan who "rescues" her favorite author after a car crash and ties him up, drugs him and uses a sledgehammer to crush his ankles.

Dead Calm (1989)

In one of Nicole Kidman's first big-screen roles she finds herself trapped on a boat at sea with a psychotic murderer played by Billy Zane.

Alien (1979)

Sigourney Weaver stars as Ripley, in what has become known as one of the best sci-fi/horror movies of all time, about an alien that takes over a spaceship and tries to kill it's seven member crew. "In space no one can hear you scream."

Lifeboat (1944)

Alfred Hitchcock was a master of suspense and he showed it in this thriller about 9 survivors trapped together in a lifeboat in WWII.
