What is Writer of O about?
The novel "The Story of O" caused a literary scandal when released in 1954. An erotic tale exploring dominance and submission, the author of the book remained unknown for 40 years until mild-mannered Parisian book editor Dominique Aury claimed authorship. Through interviews, dramatic re-creations and archival footage, director Pola Rapaport explores Aury's inspirations for the story and explores the controversial themes of sexuality and power invoked by the text.
