"Un Chant d'Amour" ("A Song of Love") 1950, 25 min. Outlaw writer Jean Genet (The Thief's Journal) originally made this silent film for Parisian gay porn collectors. The sexual fantasies of prisoners are played out in the sadomasochistic environment of their surroundings and are alternately erotic and shocking, romantic and poetic. Originally banned in France for explicit sexuality, Genet's sole directorial effort has influenced works from Andy Warhol to Todd Haynes.
