After her ex--Secret Police father dies, Nela (Maia Morgenstern) prepares to transfer to a teaching position outside of Bucharest, where she hopes to learn about her father's dark past. Traveling to a new city, her already difficult journey is halted when the train is stopped by a washed-out bridge, and when she continues on, she is gang-raped and then dismissed by police when she reports the crime. Eventually, Nela meets Mitica (Razvan Vasilescu), a doctor who accompanies her on her quest.
