In 2002, Larry Raymond, mayor of Lewiston, Maine, sends letters to more than 1,000 refugees from Somalia asking them to tell other Somalis not to move to the city. The resulting firestorm reveals an America divided on issues of immigration and race, as Raymond's letter receives condemnation from community leaders but support from white supremacist groups. Several months after the original letter, those for and against ethnic diversity converge on Lewiston for a protest and counter-protest.
