The Enforcer / Convicted

THE ENFORCER¸1951, Warner Bros., 87 min. D.A. Humphrey Bogart is after the head of Murder, Inc. (Everett Sloane) but is foiled when star witness Ted de Corsia "falls" from a highrise. Bogart gets the back story on the murder racket, presented in flashbacks. Raoul Walsh (WHITE HEAT) reputedly helmed the majority of the film uncredited, when director Bretaigne Windust fell ill.

CONVICTED, 1950, Sony Repertory, 91 min. Dir. Henry Levin. A tough remake of Howard Hawks' THE CRIMINAL CODE. Glenn Ford accidentally kills the drunken son of a politician in a barfight and is sentenced to the pen for manslaughter, despite sympathetic D.A. Broderick Crawford. Co-starring Dorothy Malone.
