Followed by: G-DOG, 2012, Ocean Releasing, 92 min. No one could have predicted that an elderly, white, Catholic priest would be the one to help gang members in East L.A. turn their lives around. Through his love, acceptance and creation of Homeboy Industries - a safe haven for those trying to find a way out of a destructive lifestyle - Father Greg Boyle has found a nonviolent route towards peace in a hyper-violent culture. Oscar-winning filmmaker Freida Lee Mock’s new documentary is a powerful look at the daily struggles of both those participating in Homeboy Industries’ programs and Father Boyle’s own efforts to keep the organization afloat despite funding problems.
