Biography
Vincent Ventresca is an urbanely handsome, voluminously coiffured actor who made waves as a frequent guest star on 1990s prime-time television before assuming leading-man status in the world of low-budget horror and science-fiction. The son of a convivial, particularly beloved Indiana biology teacher, Ventresca's inherently outgoing personality brought him to Hollywood, where he wound his way through a string of lighthearted TV guest spots and ultimately delivered a fan-favorite performance as the overly gregarious, secretly booze-fueled "Fun Bobby" on the smash-hit sitcom "Friends." Among other things, the role secured him another part opposite "Friends" star Lisa Kudrow in the quirky big-screen buddy lark "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" ('97), effectively kicking off a steady if modest presence in indie cinema. Back on the small screen, however, he landed his first lead role as a genetically enhanced thief on the Sci-Fi Channel's "The Invisible Man" (2000-'02), a high-tech, friskily comic take on the classic premise. Though not a major hit, the show gave Ventresca enough cult credentials to garner starring roles as stalwart scientists in a number of direct-to-video creature features and made-for-TV monster mashes, including the creepy-crawly parasite thriller "MorphMan" and the puckish prehistoric-beast horror film "Mammoth" ('06). Still, the actor continues to also regularly appear in non-genre films and on prime-time television. In a fitting tribute to his father, he portrayed a sweet-natured high-school science teacher on the plucky Nickelodeon sitcom "True Jackson, VP."
