Biography
Michael Dickson was born in Victoria, B.C. and moved with his family to Southern Manitoba, Canada, where he was raised on a small family farm. Dickson has been performing for most of his life. He got his start in theater and migrated west later on to pursue work in film and television. Arriving in Vancouver in the late '80s, he continued in theater while also appearing on television shows such as "Northwood" and "Neon Rider"(1990-1995). He is also a singer/songwriter/recording artist who has released two albums of original music. In the mid '90s he began to focus more on his music and drifted away from acting temporarily, spending time on the road and in the studio. The video for his song "Change in the Weather," directed by Jason Bourque, was nominated for a Leo Award. Around 2006, Dickson returned to acting, appearing in a variety of film and television productions before landing a lead role in the indie feature "Black Mountain Side" (2014). The film received favorable reviews and had an extensive and successful international festival run. In 2017, Dickson moved east, continuing work on productions in Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa. His first audition upon arrival landed him a role as a professor in the Hollywood feature "On the Basis of Sex"(2018). More recently, Dickson appeared opposite Catherine Mary Stewart as a supporting lead in the TV Christmas movie "Rock and Roll Christmas." Over the years, Michael Dickson has enjoyed applying his skills as a producer in both film and music. Dickson has also been screenwriting and currently has a feature film and a short film in the works.
