Biography
Actor Keye Chen first attracted attention in stoner comedy "The Adventures of Avery and Pete" (2014) before landing the recurring roles of Dang in tech satire "Silicon Valley" (HBO, 2014-) and Gui in period drama "Strange Angel" (CBS All Access, 2018-). Chen first began performing in a sketch comedy troupe while studying at UCLA and after making his screen debut in urban comedy "House Arrest" (2008), became a web series regular, appearing in the likes of "Dorm Life" (2008), "The Agency" (2010) and "Hogoz" (2011). Following supporting roles in romantic comedy "Finding Mr. Wright" (2011) and sex farce "Camp Virginovich" (2012), Chen enjoyed more screentime as one third of a love triangle in LGBT tale "Heterosexual Jill" (2013) and made one-off appearances in "90210" (The CW, 2008-2013), "Cougar Town" (ABC, 2009-2015) and "Mistresses" (ABC, 2013-16). After a bit-part in crime thriller "Pocket Listing" (2015), Chen shared top billing as Pete, one of two weed-obsessed nerds who discover superhero powers, in "The Adventures of Avery and Pete" (2014), was cast as Pied Piper's lead designer Dang in Mike Judge's award-winning comedy "Silicon Valley" (HBO, 2014-) and starred as Dave Fu in eSports-based web series "Tales of Titans" (2017). Chen returned to the big screen with a minor role in political thriller "False Colors" (2018) before landing the recurring role of Gui Chiang, a genius Caltech student descended from Asian royalty, in "Strange Angel" (CBS All Access, 2018-), the 1930s-set drama inspired by the life of rocket scientist and occultist Jack Parsons.
