Biography
In just a few short years following her entry into acting, Kearran Giovanni showcased her talents in stage musicals, soap operas, and crime dramas. Although the Louisiana-born performer kicked off her career on Broadway, screen roles followed, including key roles on "One Life to Live" (ABC 1968-2012) and the cable drama "Major Crimes" (TNT 2012-). Kearran Giovanni was born on December 16, 1981 in Lafayette, Louisiana, and raised in Katy, Texas. Her mother was a special education teacher and her father an executive at Halliburton Company. Giovanni engaged with the craft of acting from a young age, enrolling in the High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas, and then in the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music. Giovanni's earliest professional work as an actor took part on the stage; after moving to New York in 2004, Giovanni nabbed Broadway roles including "Sweet Charity" (2005), "Tarzan" (2006-07), and "Guys and Dolls" (2009). Giovanni's first turn on TV came with the soap opera "One Life to Live" (ABC 1968-2012), which she joined as the recurring character Dr. Vivian Wright in 2009. She soon graduated to a starring role on the crime drama "Major Crimes" (TNT 2012-). Additionally, Giovanni acted in an episode of the series "Beauty and the Beast" (The CW 2012-16) and appeared as herself in two episodes of Gordon Ramsay's cooking program "Hell's Kitchen" (Fox 2005-).
