Biography
Katy Mixon grew up one of seven children in a musically- inclined family in Pensacola, Florida. While in high school, she received an award from Miami's National Foundation of the Arts, which led to her being accepted at the highly-regarded Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in Pittsburgh, where she studied the classics. In 2003, after a period performing as part of an acting company at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her vocation. She quickly landed her first on-screen role in 2004, in the made-for-TV comedy movie "Then Comes Marriage." Her film debut came the next year, when she played a jealous friend in the thriller "The Quiet." From there, she has appeared in many more films, such as the 2008 crime drama "The Informers," 2009's "State of Play," which starred Russell Crowe, and 2011's "Take Shelter," where she received top billing alongside Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. In 2009, she landed her first recurring TV roles. In three episodes of the sitcom "Two and a Half Men" she appeared as Betsy, a woman who has an affair, and subsequently, an invalid Vegas marriage, with Charlie Sheen's lead character. She also joined the regular cast of the comedy series "Eastbound & Down," playing a seductive elementary school teacher. Her next recurring character came in 2010, when she began playing the part of Victoria, the party-loving sister to Molly, in the sitcom "Mike & Molly."
