Biography
After 15 years in New York City nightlife, club impresario Danny Abeckasar, known as "Danny A.," decided to pivot into a career as a Hollywood actor. Abeckasar began his career working with promoters in New York City, bringing models to clubs, planning parties and events, and catering to the whims of celebrity clientele. Later in his career he helped to open up destination clubs like Avenue and Marquee. Abeckasar enjoyed his success but felt limited, and wanted to pursue show business. He appeared in a bit part in the Vince Vaughn comedy "Made" in 2001, and got several other small roles playing bit parts or simply playing himself in the early 2000s. He made his entrance into the film industry as a producer, using skills he had developed as a club owner. Abeckasar's first effort as a producer was the film "Holy Rollers" (2010). The movie was based on a story Abeckasar read in The New York Times, and starred Jesse Eisenberg as a young Orthodox Jewish boy who begins selling ecstasy in New York City. The film premiered at Sundance, got distribution and was released in theaters for a limited time. Abeckasar next produced and wrote "Club Life" (2015), a movie starring Jerry Ferrara loosely based on Abeckasar's experiences as a young, up-and-coming promoter.
