Biography
Dan Ahdoot's stand-up comedy career led to writing assignments for various television series, which in turn served as the launching point for a successful run as an actor in series like "Super Fun Night" (ABC, 2013-14) and "Bajillion Dollar Properties" (Seeso 2016- ). Born Dan Kamyar Ahdoot, he was raised by parents of Afghan and Iranian Jewish heritage in Great Neck, New York. He initially intended to pursue a career in medicine, and completed pre-med studies at Johns Hopkins University, but decided instead to try his hand at stand-up comedy. Steady work on the club circuit led to opening slots for comics like Lewis Black and Patton Oswalt, writing assignments on comedy series like "Crank Yankers" (Comedy Central/MTV 2, 2002-2007) and appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (NBC, 1992-2014) and "Last Comic Standing" (NBC, 2003-2010, 2014-15), where he reached the final rounds during the second season. Ahdoot made his acting debut as the eccentric owner of a falafel restaurant on the kids' comedy series "Kickin' It"(Disney XD 2011-15), and soon added appearances on numerous other comedy programs to his resume, including a recurring role on the supernatural sitcom "Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell" (Adult Swim, 2013-) and the short-lived Rebel Wilson series "Super Fun Night." In 2016, he landed his first starring role in a television series with "Bajillion Dollar Properties." The comedy, which parodied reality TV series about high-end real estate brokers, featured Ahdoot as an unctuous agent who was not above less scrupulous means of winning the approval of his eccentric boss (Paul F. Tompkins). He also continued his writing career during this period by contributing to the screenplay for "Public Disturbance" (2017), a feature comedy vehicle for the Australian prank comic troupe the Janoskians.
