Kicking off the year of 3D movies is a feat not many humans could take on. Good thing then that Kellan Lutz is starring as Hercules in this epic origin story from Cliffhanger and Die Hard 2 director Renny Harlin. In the film, Hercules is exiled and sold into slavery because of a forbidden love and must fight his way back into his kingdom.

The new year presents a busy slate of family films getting the 3D treatment. First up will be The Nut Job, a nutty comedy about a grumpy squirrel who is banished from his park and is forced to survive in the city. Lucky for him, he stumbles upon a nut shop and with some help, plans a heist that will save his life.

Aaron Eckhart's abs in 3D. That should be reason enough for you to check out this adaptation of the Darkstorm Comics reimagination of the Frankenstein mythos. Bill Nighy stars as the film's villain with Yvonne Strahovski co-starring as the female lead.

Someone finally made a feature length movie using LEGOs and voiced the characters with an all-star cast. The film centers on a ordinary LEGO minifigure who is recruited to stop Lord Business from gluing the universe together. Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett and Will Ferrell are among the voice cast for what promises to be an early 2014 hit.

Game of Thrones fans will get to see Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in the first of two big budget movies in 2014. In the film, Harington plays a slave turned gladiator who finds himself in a race against time to save his true love (Emily Browning) all while Mount Vesuvius is erupting and the city of Pompeii is crumbling around him.

It has been eight years since the first 300 movie wowed movie fans with it's hyper-stylized action sequences. This year, the sequel finally arrives in theaters with a pair of strong ladies facing off against one another. Eva Green leads her Persian army to war against Lena Heady and the Greeks in Rise of an Empire.

What started out as a segment of The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show has now been expanded into a standalone 3D CG movie. Mr. Peabody and his pet human Sherman are on a mission to restore history after an accident sends things spiraling out of control.

Marvel's first big film of the year finds Capt. America facing a new adversary in The Winter Soldier. Captain America: The Winter Soldier introduces us to Anthony Mackie as The Falcon, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13 and Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier. Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow will feature heavily in the film as Cap's partner.

Three years ago, Rio was somewhat of an under-the-radar hit. So much so that Fox commissioned a sequel that finds Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway's Blu and Jewel now happily married and parents. Jewel decides to take the kids back to the Amazon so they can experience their roots while Blu goes beak-to-beak with a vengeful Nigel.

Serving as a bridge to two more Spider-Man movies, there's plenty of speculation as to what we'll see in this second installment of Marc Webb's Spidey universe, but we do know the film will be crammed with at least three new villains - Rhino (Paul Giamatti), Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Green Goblin/Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper).

Here's a 3D movie to take the kids to just as the summer movie season kicks off. This spin-off of the classic Wizard of Oz tale finds Dorothy back in Kansas. When she hears that the Land of Oz is in grave danger, she returns back to help her old friends and makes some new ones along the way.

Yes, it's like Groundhog Day set in a mech-warrior universe. Emily Blunt co-stars.

Dreamworks Animation's highly anticipated sequel to their 2010 hit finds Hiccup and Toothless living peacefully on the island of Berk. Upon the discovery of new dragons living in an ice cave, the two must team up to help preserve the peace between humans and dragons. Jay Baruchel, Kristen Wiig, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill and Kit Harington are part of the voice cast.

Of course he doesn't, a love story blossoms and sci-fi action sequences hurtle us to an ultimate confrontation with the Queen.

Marvel's second big movie is a huge gamble. Guardians of the Galaxy not only takes Marvel Studios in a much more niche direction than they've ever gone while also setting up the events of The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Cross your fingers and hope this sequel actually makes its 2014 release date. Having been delayed for several times, the sequel directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller is primarily based on the second volume of Miller's comic series. The film stars Josh Brolin and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as well as original Sin City stars Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis and Rosario Dawson.
