THE BEAR (1988)

An Alaskan Kodiak named Bart was the most famous actor bear in Hollywood. Along with supporting parts in 'Legends of the Fall' and 'The Great Outdoors' , Bart took the lead role in this unique, beautifully-shot French drama.

THE JUNGLE BOOK (1967)

Bears have long been popular with animators, and Baloo (voiced by Phil Harris) set the standard for years to come. We won't be surprised if "Look for the Bare Necessities" will now be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

BRAVE (2012)

The original title of this Pixar Oscar winner, about an archery-loving Scottish princess and her mother who – spoiler alert! – is turned into a bear by a witch's curse, was 'The Bear and the Bow' .

TED (2012)

The summer of 2012 was great for bear movies: Brave dominated the box office alongside Seth MacFarlane's raunchy teddy bear comedy, which starred Mark Wahlberg and MacFarlane as the titular Ted.

MUPPETS MOST WANTED (2014)

The Muppet movies may center around Kermit the Frog's various foibles, but what would they be without struggling stand-up comic Fozzie Bear and his groan-worthy jokes?

GRIZZLY MAN (2005)

Werner Herzog directed this captivating documentary about the eccentric – and doomed – bear lover Timothy Treadwell. Herzog employed much of Treadwell's own up-close footage of Alaskan grizzlies.

THE EDGE (1997)

After achieving stardom in 'The Bear' , the hard-working Bart was cast as the antagonist in this survival adventure starring Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin, and Harold Perrineau.

The maneaters in 'Grizzly Man' and 'The Edge' weren't really bad; they were just being true to their nature. The treacherous Lots-O'-Huggin' Bear (Ned Beatty), however, may be the most evil bear in cinema.

KUNG-FU PANDA (2008)

Pandas are bears too, and it's a wonder why one of the most popular animals in the world hasn't starred in more movies. But the panda named Po (Jack Black) is certainly front and center in this modern animated classic.

GRIZZLY

Well, it's no 'Jaws' . The 1970s were jam-packed with killer animal movies, from bees ('The Swarm') to rabbits ('Night of the Lepus') to frogs ('Frogs')! In this anything-goes climate, a horror flick about a monstrous bear was inevitable.

THE COUNTRY BEARS (2002)

Disney hit paydirt in 2003 when they released 'Pirates of the Caribbean' , based on the popular Magic Kingdom ride. Much less successful was this live-action adaptation of another Disneyland attraction.

BROTHER BEAR (2003)

'The Country Bears'' dismal box office didn't sway Disney from releasing another ursine escapade. Brother Bear was one of the studio's last – for now – traditional hand-drawn animated features.

OPEN SEASON (2006)

Martin Lawrence provided the voice for Boog, a domesticated grizzly let loose into the wild – rather against his will – who has to team up with a trouble-making deer (Ashton Kutcher) if he's going to survive hunting season.

YOGI BEAR (2010)

Jellystone Park's most famous resident got the big-screen treatment in this wacky comedy. In an unlikely pairing of voiceover talent, Dan Aykroyd played Yogi while Justin Timberlake played his pint-sized sidekick Boo Boo.

THE CARE BEARS MOVIE (1985)

If you were an '80s kid – or if you had kids in the '80s – the Care Bears require no introduction. These syrupy sweet critters dominated the toy, T-shirt, and greeting card industries; this was their first silver screen foray.

WINNIE THE POOH AND THE HONEY TREE (1966)

If you had to name the most popular bear in the world, few would argue against Winnie the Pooh, who's been a central part of the Disney empire ever since his debut in this featurette.
