What most horror-movie fans want is the same thing that every other movie lover wants: a good story that may surprise us, heroes we can root for, and nasty villains we can hiss and boo. ESCAPE ROOM (JAN. 4)

What would you do to improve your life? For social outcasts played by Taylor Russell, Logan Miller, Deborah Ann Woll, Tyler Labine, Jay Ellis and Nik Dohani, the answer is to do the hip thing and try an experimental escape room. However, this room is playing for keeps, involving deathtraps like incinerators, psychological torture and portals through time and space!

THE PRODIGY (FEB. 8)

There's something wrong with little Miles (Jackson Robert Scott). Through regression therapy, Dr. Jacobson (Colm Feore) begins to determine that the little boy might be possessed. Can he treat the child fast enough to save his soul and his mother's (Taylor Schilling) life?

HAPPY DEATH DAY 2 U (FEB. 14)

The first Happy Death Day was a surprise hit as vile sorority girl Theresa (Jessica Rothe) went through the slasher equivalent of Groundhog's Day and came out a better person by the end. This new installment tosses her back in the death loop and explores the endless hell of alternate timelines of murder.

Get Out was Jordan Peele's directing debut and a horror masterpiece, and we have every confidence that his follow-up, Us, will meet that pedigree. It's described as a social horror with light supernatural elements, and if you ask us, it can't come out soon enough!

PET SEMATARY (APR. 5)

"Sometimes dead is better." Stephen King's classic tale about why you should let dead cats lie returns to screens in a faithful adaptation by directors Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmeyer. THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA (APR. 19)

From The Conjuring producer James Wan comes The Curse of La Llorona, a 1970s-set horror movie about the titular ghost of Mexican legend. In life, La Llorona drowned her children, and in death, she weeps as she drags more children into the water. Time will tell if Anna Garcia (Linda Cardellini) will be able to defend her family from the deadly poltergeist.

CHILD’S PLAY (JUN. 21)

"Hi, I'm Chucky! Wanna play?" The infamous slasher toy gets an all-new model by upcoming director Lars Klevberg. In this, Karen Barclay (Aubrey Plaza) gives her son Andy (Gabriel Batemen) the hot new toy – a Good Guy doll – only to find that their computerized personalities have a bloodthirsty glitch.

GRUDGE (JUN. 21)

"It never forgives. It never forgets." And now it never dies as the genre-defining horror series The Grudge gets new life with a 2019 reboot. Indie horror director Nicolas Pesce resurrects the franchise in a white-knuckle terror tale starring John Cho, Lin Shaye, William Sadler and more pale, long-haired, gargling children than you can handle!

THE NEW MUTANTS (AUG. 2)

Stick inexperienced, teenage X-Men in a haunted house, and you get The New Mutants, a super-powered horror movie. In it, Magik (Anya Taylor-Joy), Wolfsbane (Maisie Williams), Cannonball (Charlie Heaton), Sunspot (Henry Zaga) and Mirage (Blu Hunt) will face off against sinister doctors and a supernatural menace as they fight for their lives and sanity. Expect this one to be like It meets Nightmare on Elm Street.

IT: CHAPTER 2 (SEPT. 6)

27 years after defeating Pennywise the Dancing Clown (Bill Skarsgard), the Losers return to Derry, Maine to end his reign of terror, once and for all. The kids-now-adults are James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh, Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, Bill Hader as Richie Tozier, Isiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon, James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak and Andy Bean as Stanley Uris. ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? (OCT. 11)

The Midnight Society gets its first feature-length film. The spooky-spinster teens will gather around the camp fire to tell an original tale by The Nun screenwriter Gary Dauberman that we're sure will keep young horror fans up at night!
