Epic - May 24

From the creators of Rio and the Ice Age films comes this story of a young girl who finds a miniature, magical world right beneath her feet. Upon shrinking down to a size smaller than a hummingbird, she must help a group of mini-warriors save their home from forces of evil. This film's Ferngully-esque plot sounds as big as its cast, which includes Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson, Aziz Ansari, and Beyonce Knowles.
Penguins 3D - May 24

Penguins 3D offers a fun and educational look at some of Earth's most adorable creatures with all the majestic power of IMAX 3D. Narrated by David Attenborough, Penguins 3D follows a specific King Penguin as he searches for a mate and tries to raise a family in a harsh arctic world. Both entertaining and informative, Penguins 3D supplies a break from animated fare, an unbeatable visual experience, and a thrilling story all at the same time.
My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - June 16

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls is a feature length My Little Pony film which enters limited release on Sunday, June 16. When Twilight Sparkle chases after a crown stolen from the Crystal Empire, she enters into an alternate world which transforms into a teenage girl, forcing her to survive the horrors of high school. The film should entertain both My Little Pony fans and newcomers alike. If it's playing in your area, don't let this one pass you by.
Monsters University - June 21

Pixar returns to the Monsters Inc. world for a college centered prequel which shows us how top scarers Mike Wazowski (BIlly Crystal) and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan (John Goodman) first met and became best friends. Kids already know and love these characters, so this one's a no-brainer. And with Pixar's usual stamp of quality, Monsters University is a must see with or without the kids, though the kids might get upset if you don't invite them.
Despicable Me 2 - July 3

Gru and his minions are back in this sequel to 2010's Despicable Me. This time, a powerful organization called the Anti-Villain League recruits Gru to help them take out a scary new super villain. Steve Carell reprises his role as Gru, ensuring more of the fun and inventive parodies of superhero tropes and bad guy cliches that made the first Despicable Me so successful. Plus, those minions might be the most adorable characters of the summer.
Turbo - July 17

Ryan Reynolds voices a normal, everyday snail who dreams of one day winning the Indy 500. When a freak accident grants him the power of great speed, he might just get his wish. DreamWorks Animation has been on a real roll lately trying to catch up with Pixar's domination of critically acclaimed animation, and it looks like Turbo may keep the streak alive. Paul Giamatti, Michelle Rodriguez, and Samuel L. Jackson also star in this fast paced adventure.
The Smurfs 2 - July 31

2011's The Smurfs successfully adapted the beloved cartoon not only to the big screen, but to a vibrant New York City setting as well. In this sequel, the villainous Gargamel (Hank Azaria) has created two nasty beings called The Naughties to infiltrate Smurf ranks and defeat them from within. The Smurfs 2 mixes CG animated characters with live action actors, offering an opportunity to actually see actors you enjoy rather than just hearing their voices.
Disney's Planes - August 9

Kids loved both of Pixar's Cars films, so it stands to reason they'll love a film about talking planes just as much. They'll love the film's familiar look and high flying adventure involving Dusty, a crop dusting airplane who wants to compete in an aerial race but can't because he's afraid of heights.
