Our Favorite YA Hunks: From 'Insurgent' to 'The Hunger Games'
Young-adult (or YA) movies are filled with action, suspense, adventure and... a lot of hot guys. Teen years troubling you? Dystopian future got you down? Life’s not all that bad if you get to spend it with hunks like Theo James, Logan Lerman and Josh Hutcherson. Let’s get to know these good-looking young actors a little better, shall we?
Miles Teller
Starring opposite Shailene Woodley in ‘The Spectacular Now’ (2013), Miles Teller brought immense charm and charisma to the role of a teenage alcoholic. He also impressed critics as well as fans with his turn in the much-lauded ‘Whiplash’ (2014). Currently, he’s re-teaming with Woodley – this time as her enemy - for ‘Insurgent,’ reprising his role as Peter.
Theo James
With his brooding looks and heroic demeanor, this handsome Brit won over fans as well as heroine Tris (Shailene Woodley) in the hit movie ‘Divergent’ (2014). He returns for ‘Insurgent’ with the promise of more action scenes… and less clothes?
Ansel Elgort
Moviegoers fell in love with Ansel Elgort following his touching performance as Augustus Waters in the YA tearjerker, ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ (2014). This adorably charming actor also lends his boyish good looks to the role of Caleb in ‘Divergent’ (2014) and its sequel, ‘Insurgent’ (2015).
Liam Hemsworth
This Aussie hottie – and brother of Chris “Thor” Hemsworth -- is best known for his work in the ‘Hunger Games’ movies (2012-2015), playing Gale Hawthorne, Katniss’ hometown friend who later becomes a soldier for the rebellion.
Josh Hutcherson
Hutcherson has been a working actor since he was a young kid, but he really caught audiences’ attention with his role in the critically acclaimed ‘The Kids Are All Right’ (2010), playing Julianne Moore and Annette Bening’s son. The square-jawed hunk is probably best known for his turn as Peeta in the ‘Hunger Games’ films (2012-2015).
Jamie Blackley
This British heartthrob had a small role in ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ (2012), but he broke out big in ‘If I Stay’ (2014), playing a rocker in love with cellist Chloe Grace Moretz. Next up – a role in Woody Allen’s upcoming feature.
Dylan O’Brien
Boyish-looking cutie Dylan O’Brien starred in the hit MTV series ‘Teen Wolf,’ then went on to land the leading role of Thomas in the YA dystopian thriller ‘The Maze Runner’ (2014). He’ll return to the ‘Maze Runner’ universe in this year’s sequel, ‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,’ due out in September.
Brenton Thwaites
Aussie actor Thwaites managed to get a young Maleficent to fall in love with him before truly grabbing moviegoers’ attention in the dystopian YA drama ‘The Giver’ (2014).
Sam Clafin
English actor Sam Clafin played William in ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ (2012) and Philip in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ (2011), but the YA veteran is best known for his role as the oft-shirtless Finnick Odair in the ‘Hunger Games’ movies (2012-2015).
Logan Lerman
Known for playing the title role in the ‘Percy Jackson’ films (2010, 2013), Lerman went on to star as sensitive writer Charlie in ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ (2012), not to mention his other notable roles in ‘Fury’ (2014) and ‘Noah’ (2014).
Ezra Miller
Alterna-hottie Ezra Miller played the title role in ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’ (2011) and best bud Patrick in ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ (2012). Currently, he’s set to join the DC superhero movieverse by starring as The Flash in multiple upcoming movies.
