Is Kylo Ren Secretly Good?

Hello, I am General Leia Organa Solo, and I believe that my son Ben Solo -- Kylo Ren, as he calls himself -- still has good in his heart. Moreover, I believe that despite all he has done, he is secretly on the Light Side of the Force.

Need proof? I have more than a mother’s intuition.

Resistance intelligence states that First Order Lieutenant Dopheld Mitaka broke the news to Kylo Ren that our BB8 unit escaped. Kylo Ren reacted by venting his anger on a command console.

Considering that Darth Vader -- my father -- routinely murdered incompetent officers, it speaks to Kylo Ren’s credit that he did not. More, Supreme Leader Snoke would probably applaud such gruesome displays of violence for the Dark Side.

Once is a coincidence. Twice is a pattern. Rey reported that on Starkiller Base, she used a Jedi mind trick on Stormtrooper FN-1824 to escape captivity. Our spies have confirmed that Kylo Ren again unleashed his fury on Rey’s restraints INSTEAD of murdering the Stormtrooper.

If my son was truly lost, he’d kill without hesitation. Anything to appease his dark master.

Our spies have also confirmed that Ben - Kylo Ren - frequently meditates on Darth Vader’s helmet. He asks it for strength, specifically in suppressing the call he feels to the Light. We also know that he intends "to finish what Vader started."

While the first part all but explicitly says that Kylo Ren is secretly on the Light Side, I believe that second part about finishing what Vader started, points to Kylo Ren’s true goal. Vader killed Emperor Palpatine, a major blow for the Rebellion. Is my son planning a similar blow against the First Order’s leadership?

I honestly don’t know if I’ve recovered since Han’s death, and I don’t know if I ever will. What my son did...

As horrible as it was, Chewbacca related to me what was said. Ben told Han – his father - that he felt like he was being torn apart, and that he needed Han’s help. Han agreed. An instant later, Kylo Ren impaled Han, killing him.

If Kylo Ren is struggling to repress the Light Side of the Force, how better to do so than by killing his own father? Moreover, if he intends to get close to Supreme Leader Snoke to strike him down, there’s no greater way of gaining his trust. It’s possible that Kylo Ren is a secret operative for the Light. It’s possible.

I have to believe that. It’s possible.

As Rey reported, midway through her lightsaber duel with Kylo Ren, he offered to teach her in the ways of the dark side. Why would he do that? Our spies indicate that Kylo Ren hadn't completed his Sith training. Was this mere arrogance, or does Kylo Ren know that confronting Supreme Leader Snoke isn't something he can do alone?

Rey's powers ARE significant, and there's more than a little reason to suggest that she shares a connection with our family.

If all this is true, and Ben –Kylo Ren- is secretly planning to overthrow Supreme Leader Snoke, could it also be possible that my brother Luke trained him expressly for that purpose? If so, the Knights of Ren's massacre of Luke's Jedi Academy could be an elaborate hoax. Luke might be living in exile, waiting only for the right time to strike.

So where does that leave me, his mother? I’m a General in the Resistance fleet, and he’s been tearing through our fighters in his TIE Silencer.

Would Kylo Ren kill his mother? As hurt as Ben is, as much as the Dark Side is a part of him, I believe that he loves me. I believe that he would only kill me if he believed it put him one step closer to killing Snoke. One step closer to stopping the First Order, and ending the war.

I believe that Kylo Ren is secretly good.
