'Insurgent': What Are Your Favorite Characters Up To?
Get ready to return to a dystopian Chicago in 'Insurgent,' the second film in the 'Divergent' series. Before you see the sequel, check out where we left off with Tris and the other main characters.
Beatrice “Tris” Prior (Shailene Woodley)
Tris is Divergent, sharing traits with Abnegation, Dauntless and Erudite factions. She joined Dauntless, but her Divergent status saved her from being brainwashed into an Erudite-backed, Dauntless-led massacre of Abnegation. Now she’s on the run, targeted for death by Erudite.
Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet)
The villainous leader of Erudite. Jeanine plotted to exterminate the ruling Abnegation faction, using a mind control serum to get the Dauntless army to do her bidding, but her plans were thwarted by Tris. Now, she wants the young Divergent’s head on a stake.
Caleb Prior (Ansel Elgort)
Tris’ older brother. A member of Erudite, he leaked the news of his faction’s planned slaughter of Abnegation to his sister. Naturally, this didn’t sit well with Erudite, so Caleb fled with Tris to find refuge amongst the peaceful Amity faction.
Tobias “Four” Eaton (Theo James)
Dauntless faction’s training instructor. Four developed feelings for Tris during training and later revealed that he too is Divergent. Jeanine used an experimental serum to get Four to kill Tris, but Tris broke him from the mind control. He then escaped with her and his father Marcus (Ray Stevenson), an Abnegation leader.
Peter Hayes (Miles Teller)
A vicious Dauntless initiate, Peter’s inherently violent nature has rendered him immune to his faction’s mind control serums. He has joined forces with his former enemy Tris because he’s afraid he’ll be killed for knowing too much about the mind control process.
Christina (Zoë Kravitz)
A Dauntless initiate who befriended Tris during training. Under Erudite’s mind control, she was about to take part in the Abnegation massacre before Tris shut it down. Christina doesn’t know yet that Tris killed her boyfriend Will in self-defense.
