Woohoo! After losing out to The Help for three weeks in a row, we’ve finally put our (okay, my) losing streak behind us! Now we can look ahead to a future that includes me correctly predicting the box office winner every single week through the rest of the year … I hope. Like I said on Friday this past weekend found two solid films entering the marketplace, both of which were totally deserving of your hard-earned dollars. However, the opening weekend of football season – combined with the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 – added up to a pretty dry couple of days at the box office.

Contagion (83% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) wound up winning the weekend easily with $23 million, and a lot of that was probably due to the star-studded cast, proving that, yes, a whole bunch of popular faces can still help your film win big at the box office. Even though Warrior (82% Fresh) was right behind Contagion in terms of critical praise, it still couldn’t pick itself up more than $6 million, finishing in third place (behind The Help) with only $5.6 million. Meanwhile, Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star conjured up a ridiculously disappointing 0% Rotten rating and earned just over $1 million, which means we won’t be including it in this round of polls since that pretty much says it all.
But we still want to know what you thought of both Contagion and Warrior, so sound off in our weekly polls below (as well as the comments) and let it all out there. Here’s your chance to be the critic for once…
