Whoa, who saw this one coming? Back on Friday during my Box Office Prediction post, I did note how Limitless was riding a bit of a buzz train heading into this weekend. Folks I had spoken with were giving it some pretty high marks, and it looks like the buzz caught on just in the nick of time since Limitless managed to win the weekend with $19 million, beating out Rango ($15.3 million), Battle: Los Angeles ($14.6 million), The Lincoln Lawyer ($13.4 million), and, the film I predicted to win the weekend, Paul ($13.2 million).
Like me, you all chose Paul as the weekend winner with 43% of the vote, while 40% of you chose Limitless. But did it deserve its top spot? Critics over at Rotten Tomatoes have handed the film a decent 65% Fresh rating, while audience members clocked in slightly higher at 74%.
