    Better than Expected

Paul was exactly what you expect from Pegg & Frost. Super funny and creative. If you are a fan of Shaun or Hot Fuzz, you'll enjoy Paul.
All the reviews on Fandango about the nonstop cursing & blasphemy intrigued me even more to see it, seeing as how both those things are not typical of their movies.
1st off, the movie is rated R. If you're a parent taking your child to see a rated R movie, then I'm assuming you have some knowledge of what an R rated movie contains. Saying you were shocked & disgusted at the content, walking out, etc is just ridiculous. It's an R rating for a reason.
2nd, Paul contains a mediocre amount of foul language & toilet humor. You hear more cursing and sexual jokes on Comedy Central. It is incredibly mild compared to most comedies out there, and I honestly did not understand what all the uproar was about.
3rd, the movie contains jokes aimed at Christian characters. If you were offended by it, then either grow thicker skin, or don't see R rated movies.

  • No

    A reluctant NO.

Paul is a movie I really wanted to like. I am a huge fan of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. "Shaun of the Living Dead" is one of my all time favorite movies.

Paul is not a bad movie. The comedy is often very fresh and unexpected. However, the R rating is richly deserved for an excess of profanity and body humor. Don't get me wrong, I'm a guy and I like fart jokes and upper body humor as much as the next guy, but after a time the level of it here started to wear.

That is not my real beef with this movie. I am not a Fundamentalist anything, let alone Christian. In fact, I consider myself to be a fairly agnostic liberal. Here, I think that the level of hate directed towards anyone who simply believes in god, was uncalled for and unnecessary.

Let me also say before I get flamed that I have an extremely well-developed sense of satire. I understand that sometimes you have to go to extremes to make a point. But I do feel that they stepped over a line.
