With less than two weeks to go before Halloween, the scary movies continue to infiltrate your local movie theaters. This weekend yet another horror sequel arrives to continue what has now become an October tradition, but it'll be met by some stiff competition from an unlikely source. Let's take a closer look ...

Paranormal Activity 4

What's the Scoop: If you've seen any of the Paranormal Activity movies, then you know what to expect. Picking up five years after the previous installment, a suburban family begin to witness strange occurrences after a mother and child move into the neighborhood.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: The found footage aspect is what's really kept this franchise going, with people enjoying the realism on display as unsuspecting, relatable folks are frightened beyond belief when mysterious happenings begin showing up on their camcorders and computers. It's worked for the series so far, and while Sinister -- the year's scariest movie (according to me) -- is also still in theaters, I think there's enough juice left for Paranormal Activity to continue its box office domination.

What's the Scoop: Tyler Perry ... action hero? Believe it, folks. Stepping away briefly from his romantic dramedies and Madea comedies, Tyler Perry stars in this adaptation of a popular James Patterson novel in which he plays a homicide detective on the hunt for a ruthless serial killer, played by Matthew Fox (Lost).

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Tyler Perry has a massive fanbase that usually help him win big at the box office, but will they show up for something a little different? What do you think?

My Prediction: It's hard to bet against Paranormal Activity 4, which I think will knock Taken 2 out of its top spot this weekend. My advice: Make it a horror double feature and go see Sinister too, if you haven't already.

My Pick of the Week: It's in four theaters and expanding soon, so when it hits your neck of the woods I highly recommend The Sessions. The film is based on the real-life story of a journalist (John Hawkes) forced to live inside of an iron lung due to post-polio syndrome, and it tracks him in his attempts to lose his virginity via sex surrogate (Helen Hunt). Charming, sad and packed full of heart, this will be a film that winds up in the hunt come Oscar season, so see it now while you can.

Now it's your turn -- tell us what you're seeing this weekend, and which movie you think will win the weekend box office.
