As we slowly climb out from under the box office rubble caused by the explosiveness of The Hunger Games, we're beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel ... and for some reason this tunnel is taking us back to the late '90s. Oh yes, you're not going crazy -- and this is still the year 2012 -- but we completely understand how one look at the movie listings might make you feel like you're living in the past. Here's why ...

American Reunion

What's The Scoop: 13 years after American Pie helped usher in a new era of teen sex comedies, the entire original gang is back for one more big-screen adventure. This time they're all coming together for a high school reunion, and we're sure plenty of foul-mouthed, sex-related hijinks will ensue.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Who isn't ready for more pie? It's been awhile, but this franchise has been going strong over the years with its direct-to-DVD sequels, so we know there's still an audience for this stuff. How big is that audience? Guess we'll see Monday morning ...

Titanic 3D

What's the Scoop: It's the James Cameron film we all know and love, but this time it's been converted to 3D. Yeah yeah, we know you're rolling your eyes at another 3D re-release, but this is James Cameron we're talking about. This guy takes 3D seriously. He lives for it. If you want to take a chance on a 3D re-release, make it this one. Especially if you're a fan of the film.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: When 3D and James Cameron get together the results almost always end up on some highest grossing films of all time list.

My Prediction: The Hunger Games pulled in $58 million last week, and so it's hard to bet against that franchise monster. I'm going to stick with The HG to win it for a third week in a row.

My Pick of the Week: Morgan Spurlock's latest documentary, Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope, opens in limited release. Even if you've never attended a comic convention, this is a must-see for all nerds, geeks and dreamers.

Now it's your turn -- sound off below and let us know which film you think will win the weekend box office.
