The resurrection of Universal's classic movie monsters for the small screen continues apace. NBC has already successfully brought Dracula back to life on Friday nights, in the person of Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and now some of the same creative talent will be involved in conjuring up a new version of The Wolfman.

Rather than reboot things entirely, the prospective series will be based on the 2010 film version starring Benicio Del Toro as Lawrence Talbot, a famous actor in late 19th century England who returns home to his estranged family and learns of his true destiny. According to Deadline, the series will be "a supernatural thriller that explores what it means to be a man and to be human. It centers on Lawrence Talbot, who is afflicted by an ancient curse and jacks into the powerful, primordial soul of the alpha predator."

Daniel Knauf, who serves as executive producer and head writer for Dracula, will be an executive producer on The Wolfman and will also be involved in writing the show, along with Scott Stuber, producer of the movie version, and Quan Phung. Adding another twist, The Wolfman is set around the same time period, and geographical location, as the refashioned Dracula. Could we be seeing future team-ups between the two classic monsters, a la Universal's House of Dracula?
