Visitors to movie theaters in California and Arizona will receive a little more than they bargained for when Fast & Furious hits screens in April as D-Box Technologies will unveil the first-ever D-Box seat-shaker to accompany the regular old moviegoing experience. What in the world is a D-Box seat-shaker, you ask? Well, it’s kinda like one of those devices at some Disney World or Universal Studios attraction that shakes your seat whenever something fast, big and exciting is happening up on screen or on stage. It also reminds me of those video game controllers that shake, but on a much larger, full-body scale.

According to an article over at Techradar, the "D-Box Motion Code is a motion-generating system that wobbles and shakes cinema seats to accompany Hollywood movies," and that it’s "perfectly synchronized with all onscreen action, creating an unmatched realistic, immersive experience." Sounds fun … except when the thing shakes your large popcorn and nachos all over the person sitting next to you – but that’s part of the fun, right? ("Don’t hit me – Vin Diesel took a left turn and my seat went bonkers!")

Fast & Furious is the fourth installment in the action-packed underground racing franchise, and it reunites stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordanna Brewster from the original. Unfortunately the seat-shaker will only be available in two theaters for the time being; the Mann Chinese 6 in Hollywood and the UltraStar Surprise Pointe 13 in Surprise, Arizona. If you live near either theater, definitely get over there and try it out when Fast & Furious screeches into theaters on April 3 … then come back here and let us know if you think this sort of gimmick will work movie forward.
