Aaron Johnson and Juno Temple

Confession time: I was once Jack the Giant Killer. Okay, not literally – I just played the character in my third grade play, but still…if Bryan Singer wants to discover a complete unknown with prior giant killing experience, then please let the man know that my door is always open. Sadly, at this point it looks like I'm a bit too old to play Jack, since the casting shortlist for Singer's next live-action film has arrived online, and everyone on it is younger, hipper and so much hotter than I will ever be. Sigh. Hugs?

The film, which is currently gearing up for production off a script from Singer's go-to scribe Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) will follow a young farmer who's tasked with going after a princess when she's kidnapped, threatening the long-standing peace between humans and giants. So, obviously, the two big roles here are that of the farmer and the princess.
Heat Vision tells us that the shortlist for the farmer currently includes Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Nicholas Hoult (Beast in X-Men: First Class), Aneurin Barnard (relative unknown) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Harry Potter, Sweeney Todd).
As for the ladies, it's looking like Adelaide Kane, Lily Collins and Juno Temple are all up for the princess part. All three are up-and-comers who've dabbled in television work and are currently making their way up the up-and-comer charts.
Production is set to begin March after having been delayed a few months due to the tremendous amount of effects work, and whoever signs on is being asked to commit 8 or 9 months to the project, which is unheard of. Should be interesting to see what Singer churns out with this one.
Who would you like to see star in Jack the Giant Killer?
