Emma

Want to know what’s coming soon to digital and what to watch right now on FandangoNOW? Here is your weekly guide to the latest releases:

What movies were just announced for digital release?

The High Note, from director Nisha Ganatra (Late Night), had planned to open in cinemas on May 8. Focus Features is now skipping a theatrical run and will instead release the movie digitally on May 29 as a premium rental. The drama stars Dakota Johnson as the assistant to a famous singer (Tracee Ellis Ross).

What are the latest new releases to watch right now?

The acclaimed Jane Austen adaptation Emma., which stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the titular young matchmaker, is now available for digital purchase following its Home Premiere rental period. Also new to buy digitally is the animated DC Comics superhero movie Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.

There are also some hot new movies available to buy or rent, including the crime comedy Arkansas, starring Liam Hemsworth and Vince Vaughn, the romantic drama Ordinary Love, starring Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville, and the Christian music biopic I Still Believe, in which K.J. Apa portrays singer Jeremy Camp.

What movies are great to pair with those new releases?

Emma. can be purchased together with the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice starring Kiera Knightley in a special Jane Austen collection. And Justice League Dark: Apokolips War is available to buy together with the 2017 animated Justice League Dark movie. Both pairings are priced at less than $25.

I Still Believe can be purchased in a three-movie collection with the fellow inspirational music biopics Forever My Girl and I Can Only Imagine, all for under $25. We also recommend pairing Ordinary Love with another romance drama, Phantom Thread, for which Lesley Manville received an Oscar nomination.

Are there any other big movies coming out this week?

On Friday, May 8, the musical remake of Valley Girl releases digitally, and you’ll even be able to get that as part of a double feature collection with the newly re-released 1983 original. The mystery thriller A Good Woman is Hard to Find also drops on FandangoNOW on the same day.

What movies are newly available as rentals?

The sci-fi action movie Bloodshot, which stars Vin Diesel as the titular Valiant Comics character, is now available to rent as well as buy. There’s also the Big Lebowski sequel, The Jesus Rolls, plus the horror movie The Lodge, which is about a woman trapped with her boyfriend’s kids during a blizzard.

Can you recommend some great binge bundles to rent?

Want to experience the end of the world three times? Check out the new Dystopian movie bundle, which includes the post-apocalyptic sci-fi dramas Starfish, Embers and We’ve Forgotten More Than We Ever Knew. The triple-feature deal is available to either buy for under $24 or rent for under $12.

Now You See Me 3 is in the works, with the latest word being that a new writer is working on the script, so now is a good time to watch the first two installments of the magic-based franchise. You can get Now You See Me and Now You See Me 2 as a double-feature bundle for less than $7 to rent or less than $20 to own.

What are some movies to watch for Mother’s Day?

This weekend is Mother’s Day, and FandangoNOW has all your favorite movies celebrating moms, including a bunch starring Julia Roberts: Stepmom, Steel Magnolias, Erin Brockovich, Ben is Back and the aptly titled Mother’s Day. And if you watch Stepmom, you can also watch Susan Sarandon in The Meddler.

If you’re interested in something darker than the heartwarming fare above, there’s always the black comedy Serial Mom, the recent scary movie Hereditary and the cult classic biopic Mommie Dearest. Plus you can buy both the horror classic Rosemary’s Baby and the surreal fable Mother! as a double-feature deal.

Are we celebrating any big anniversaries this week?

Another horror movie befitting a Mother’s Day watch is the original Friday the 13th, which turns 40 years old this week. Other anniversaries include Alfonso Cuaron’s A Little Princess, which turns 25, Ridley Scott’s Best Picture winner Gladiator, which turns 20, and the same director’s Kingdom of Heaven, which turns 15. Finally, Marvel’s Iron Man 2 opened 10 years ago this week.

Which must-see movies are coming soon to FandangoNOW?

Next week, the Scooby-Doo animated feature Scoob!, which was originally planned as a theatrical release, goes straight to digital on May 15. And if you pre-order the movie now, you’ll get 50% off a selection of other movies. Also, as mentioned above, The High Note will be available at the end of the month.
