Move over Buffy, there’s a new vampire slayer on the block … and I believe he was also the 16th President of the United States. A new gimmick is slowly becoming more and more popular, and the man at the center of it is author Seth Grahame-Smith, who’s already finding success with his book Pride and Prejudice and Zombies – which re-tells the classic story, but subtly adds a zombie subplot. Essentially, what this guy does is take entire works of literature and then re-writes them by adding some sort of supernatural twist as if to expose an element of the original that was never before seen … until now.

Why we’re talking about it on a movie blog is because Hollywood studios are beginning to knock on this Grahame-Smith’s door, with a hot-shot unnamed industry player already securing the film rights for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. With that out of the way, Grahame-Smith has moved on to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which is a book proposal that just sold for six figures and they’re currently shopping around the film rights as we speak. The book is said to follow a “loose sketch” of Lincoln’s life, but then tacks on the little known fact that he was also a vampire hunter.

Dude kinda looks like a vampire hunter, so I can see why they chose Honest Abe of all people – but this would make for a very strange movie, and I could see a lot of people being offended by something like this if it were to ever hit theaters.

What do you think? Are you interested in an Abe Lincoln vampire movie, or do you find it offensive that someone would create such a fantastical story about one of our most beloved presidents?
