Marvel announced MCU Phase Four titles: At Comic-Con, Marvel Studios revealed the outline for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which kicks off next year with Black Widow and The Eternals. Newly announced movies include a horror-tinged Doctor Strange sequel and a Thor movie starring Natalie Portman as a new incarnation of the Avengers character.
Mahershala Ali is the new Blade: Marvel also teased movies beyond Phase Four, including Black Panther 2 plus eventual additions of the Fantastic Four and X-Men, and announced the casting of Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as the new Blade for an MCU reboot of the vampire-hunting character arriving in Phase Five or later.
Two Halloween sequels revealed: Also during Comic-Con, original Halloween director John Carpenter revealed there are two new sequels following last year’s resurrection of the horror franchise. The new movies, arriving in 2020 and 2021, are respectively titled Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends and will again star Jamie Lee Curtis.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to reunite: Oscar-winning Good Will Hunting duo Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will reunite on screen and off for Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel. Deadline reported the actors are collaborating with Nicole Holofcener (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) on the script for the movie, which will depict a true story of a duel to the death between best friends.
Jennifer Lawrence is playing a Mob Girl: Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence found her next high-profile role in Mob Girl, according to Variety. The movie, which Lawrence is also producing, is based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning book and will be about a real-life mobster’s wife who turned police informant.
