"Tell me... do you bleed? You will."
And thus concludes a dark, haunting and somewhat angry debut teaser trailer for next year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice -- one that finishes with an epic staredown between two superheroes fans have waited a long time to see share the big screen in live action form.
Check it out below.
Since we still have almost a year to go before Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters -- officially kicking off DC's massive plan for a shared cinematic universe of their own -- this first teaser plays like a meaty appetizer, and more like a follow-up to Man of Steel than anything else.
Most of the preview is centered on Superman (Henry Cavill) and how the world is reacting to his existence following the events of Man of Steel. It all feels very "real world," as if this alien creature with unreal powers actually showed up one day on earth. How would we react?
Would we worship him... or want him gone?
Of course, they've got to give us the money shot of Superman and Batman together -- and that's exactly where we end up, amidst a moody staredown between the two, with Batman (Ben Affleck) throwing the first verbal punch.
We imagine the punches that follow will land a bit harder. Okay, a lot harder.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016. What do you think of the first trailer?
