Now that Transformers was a huge hit, why not bring back some other Gen X favorites from the '80s? Word from Latino Review is that those five beloved mechanical lions from the Japanese animation will form together to make ultimate fighter Voltron on the big screen soon enough. The Mark Gordon Co. is attached to produce Voltron: Defender of the Universe, Relativity Media will finance, and a director is expected to be attached within the week. All I have to say is...right on! I'm still a sucker for this particular cartoon, and besides that transformation which never gets old, the theme music for the series was by far one of the most memorable of the '80s animations (if you've forgotten it, check out this Voltron highlight). One request for a new, gussied-up, live-action version: bring back Sven, the original pilot of the blue lion. No offense to his successor Princess Allura, but Sven, with his sleek-looking outfit (some kind of martial artist type get-up) and black uniform, was by far the coolest of the Voltron team members.
