Vin Diesel Bringing 'Riddick' to IMAX Screens in September
Vin Diesel fans: Start your engines.
The action just doubled down on 2013, meaning you’ll get more Vin for your money. With the sixth Fast and the Furious film ready to roar into theaters on May 24, Diesel just confirmed via THR that his planned Pitch Black sequel – simply titled Riddick – will storm multiplexes on Sept. 6.
Diesel reunites with writer/director David Twohy for the third chapter of their sci-fi storyline, which Diesel has been telling journalists will refernce the dark, lean methods of Pitch Black (instead of the bloated, flashy The Chronicles of Riddick, which alienated fans).
THR adds that Riddick will be released in IMAX by Universal.
So tell us, Diesel fans – which Vin franchise do you prefer? Are you more excited about the guns-and-cars muscle-flexes of the Fast films? Or are you ready to head back to the uncharted regions of outer space with Riddick?
To help you choose, Universal released an official plot for Riddick, which we’re sharing with you below:
“The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.
The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.”
