From Stacie Hougland: Just got some news I can get behind, at the risk of dating myself. Anyone who grew up in the early 1980s knows of the miniseries "V," about the arrival of fascist reptilian aliens (the Visitors) in human-face who first befriend humankind then attempt to take over planet Earth and make dinner out of us. It looks like creator Kenneth Johnson is finally getting plans for a movie off the ground, some 25 years after the megahit played to 80 million viewers.

The site Latino Review supposedly got a look at an early version of the script, and reports V: The Movie will modernize the plot with allusions to the Iraq war and terrorism and focus on TV cameraman Mike who joins a band of resistance fighters hoping to expose the aliens. Overall, a sort of Independence Day meets, aptly, V for Vendetta. How can that NOT be GREAT? There's something about reptilian fascist aliens invading earth and disguising their true identities with plastic human skin and rad goggles that is timeless, compelling and hilarious.
