A couple of big trailers hit the Web overnight, so we’ve collected them together into one handy-dandy post.
- Edgar Wright plans to conclude a trilogy he launched with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost – which includes Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz – with the ensemble comedy The World’s End. Essentially, it’s a pub-crawl comedy about over-the-hill friends trying to recapture their youth. But it’s also an end-of-the world adventure with a clever sci-fi twist. MSN.com has the exclusive first trailer. The movie opens in the U.S. on Aug. 23:
- Lee Daniels’ The Paperboy, his follow up to the Oscar-winning Precious, didn’t connect with audiences. We expect bigger things from The Butler, a movie he is directing about Eugene Allen (Forest Whitaker), an African-American man who spent decades working for presidents in the White House. The first trailer sells the movie’s star-studded ensemble, from Oprah Winfrey (playing Allen’s wife) to John Cusack (playing Richard Nixon!!)
The Weinstein Company is backing The Butler, so expect a massive Oscar push later this year. For now, here’s the trailer. The movie opens in theaters on Oct. 18.
- Finally, the full trailer for Alfonso Cuaron’s anticipated Gravity arrives on Thursday, giving us our first look at Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in the space-based astronaut thriller. If you can’t wait, however, Entertainment Tonight shared a 15-second “commercial” for the trailer. Check it out below:
